Imagine We Have Wings

Released 2019
Compelling stories of universal experience gleaned from daily life and family history; introspective vignettes exploring social issues; songs of loss and the redemptive joy of carrying on.
Growing up in a large family of musicians and artists, St. Louis native, Jane Godfrey, has been singing and playing guitar most of her life. Jane found her true calling in midlife when she ventured into songwriting, creating a genre she calls “Urban Campfire Cabaret”. She had her first solo gig at the age of 50 and recorded her first CD, “Choose Beauty”, shortly thereafter. Through her music, Jane strives to honor the ordinary and reveal the beauty and little truths in everyday life. She performs locally and nationally as a solo act, as well as in duos, CatBird, and My Aunt Jane. With songs both personal and universal, Jane moves her audiences and draws them in to share her intimate virtual campfire circle. Here’s what some folks are saying about Jane and her new CD, “Imagine We Have Wings”:

Bravo! This is remarkable stuff. Powerful lyrics and beautifully crafted songs, with wonderful arrangements and backing. This is, in my opinion, a masterwork. Well worth the long wait, time and effort.
Steve Perron, Writer/producer – KMOV-TV, host of The Wolf Café open mic in St. Louis, and Singer/Songwriter

I absolutely love the imagery of your songs and the storytelling aspect of your music. I found every song to be touching and relatable, and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to hear them live. Thank you for finding the beauty in this world and for sharing it with us through your music.
Leanne Magnuson Latuda, Artistic Director and Conductor, Women’s HOPE Chorale of St. Louis

What I'm Up To

It's been a long labor of love but my CD, Imagine We Have Wings, is "in the can".  My CD release show on Nov 17 is going to be so much fun.  I'll have my siblings and other family members joining me on stage in various configurations, as well as a bunch of other talented St. Louis musicians. Can't wait!

I am looking forward to my upcoming travels!  First, I'm heading to Chicago to participate in Sue Fink's Musical Mondays series at Uncommon Ground.  I'll be in the round with Sue Fink, Robin Bienemann, and Charles doubt we'll have a lot of laughs as well as put our hearts on the line in song.  After that, Sue and I will hit the road again - a little follow-up after our "Ya Just Never Know" tour last summer. (Read all about those adventures here:   We're going to Tulsa and Dallas to perform in a couple of house concerts. Can't wait!

My big family show is coming up.  This project has been in production in my mind for years, but it wasn't until last summer when I found the right venue (1900 Park) that it started to become a reality.  I'll be performing with my siblings and extended family members in a family-themed concert.  Two of my sisters are artists and their amazingly beautiful artworks (also family-themed) will be hanging in the gallery where we will be performing.  More on this later.
